What is the un-architect?
The un-architect is a unique project by Celeste Lewis that addresses complex architectural problems with simple, energy-efficient and cost-saving solutions. It’s a philosophy that minimizes waste; both from your budget and building materials.
Celeste is a straight-talking architect with 20 years of residential remodeling experience. She’s designed plenty of new homes and huge remodels in her career but, she has come to believe that bigger is not always better. She’s watched many homeowners spend thousands of dollars turning their lives upside down remodeling and building additions. Often, simpler solutions existed.
Many architectural problems can be solved by gathering enough information about your lifestyle and your needs. With an eye for simple ideas, the un-architect project strives to solve your most pressing spatial issues in a quick and environmentally sustainable manner.
What kind of projects do you do?
Un-architect projects are intended for clients wanting to explore non-invasive solutions, work within their means and just say no to new construction – the “nuclear” option.
You won’t be offered options that require a building permit, but you’ll get a lot more than redecorating ideas.
Perfect un-architect projects include:
- Flow solutions for high-use areas of your home
- Energy savings and sustainability consultations
- Water damage and wet basement consultations
- Unique storage solutions
- Aging in place solutions
What should I expect as a client?
1st step: Download a form to help you organize your thoughts.
2nd step: Contact Celeste to schedule an un-architect consultation in your home.
3rd step: Celeste will come to your home to meet with you, evaluate the situation and talk over solutions.
4th step: Within a week, Celeste will generate a detailed plan and budget for completing the work. This individual “action plan” will include a budget, a list of local resources to help you complete the work and may include a floor plan sketch if necessary.
How much does all of this cost?
- $200.00 for a two-hour, in home un-architect consultation with two hours of follow up to prepare an individualized action plan. This includes consultations scheduled during normal business hours. (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday)
- $250.00 for in home un-architect consultations scheduled on Saturday morning. (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
Additional finish selections, cabinet design work, etc. will be charged at the rate of $60.00 per hour.
Should you decide to explore a more traditional remodeling solution, all fees paid with the un-architect consultation will be credited to a new contract.
